Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Meredith Drottar and I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor located in the scenic region of southwest Colorado. Providing therapeutic services is my passion and I look forward to seeing how our work together can enhance your personal growth as you continue on your unique journey. I am licensed to practice in both Colorado and Minnesota.

My areas of focus include:

  • Trauma

  • Dissociative identities

  • Self-acceptance

  • Inner child/parts work

Some experiences feel too overwhelming to discuss with the people in our lives. We feel certain that no one will understand our experience- or worse, they might pass judgment on us for what we’ve been through. Instead of asking for support, it feels easier to isolate ourselves and let our despair slowly break down our will from within. Guilt and shame do everything in their power to convince us that we as human beings have little worth and it seems only natural to believe this about ourselves.

There is peace to be found from these overwhelming feelings. I want to join you on this journey and work with you to build the life that you desire. I will meet you wherever you’re at in your process and provide support as you determine what moving forward looks like for your unique experience. I work with individuals who have experienced trauma and are looking for relief from the heaviness of their experiences. All types of trauma are valid and deserve acknowledgment. My particular approach brings levity, realism, understanding, and warmth to our sessions.

When you're ready, let's start this healing process together.

 Commonly Asked Questions

Q: What drew you to this field initially?

A: Making connections with people has been the most rewarding aspect of my life. As a child there were very few safe adults in my life, but I found that social workers/counselors/teachers/other helpers cultivated an environment of safety more easily than others. I aim to be a safe support for others while they navigate their own journeys.

Q: Why focus on trauma and self-acceptance?

A: These topics have impacted my life in powerful ways and are often such overwhelming experiences. I want to be a source of safety, stability, and support for others who find themselves struggling.

Q: What is your preferred therapeutic approach?

A: I personally tend toward an existentialist or humanist approach. This involves meeting clients wherever they are at in their journeys and helping them explore what their role is within their own lives and within the greater context of the world. I like to do a lot of work with choices, values, and personal responsibility. I find empowering others to take control of their own story to be fulfilling, nurturing work.
